About

Smart Cities Intervention was launched by the Hon’ Prime Minister on 25 June, 2015. The main objective of the Mission is to promote cities that provide core infrastructure, clean and sustainable environment and give a decent quality of life to their citizens through the application of ‘smart solutions’. The Mission aims to drive economic growth and improve quality of life through comprehensive work on social, economic, physical and institutional pillars of the city. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development by creation of replicable models which act as lighthouses to other aspiring cities. 100 cities have been selected to be developed as Smart Cities through a two-stage competition.
Additional resources are to be raised through convergence, from ULBs’ own funds, grants under Finance Commission, innovative finance mechanisms such as Municipal Bonds, other government programs and borrowings. Emphasis has been given on the participation of private sector through Public Private Partnerships (PPP). Citizens’ aspirations were captured in the Smart City Proposals (SCPs) prepared by the selected cities.

Transit Oriented Development

TOD is on eof the approaches adopted globally to address the challenges of urban sprawl by concentrating the activities at anode or along a public transit corridor thereby increasing the efficiency of land utilization.

Last Mile Connectivity

Providing easy transport options is not sufficient to solve the issue of mobility in a smart city. Smart mobility should ensure better last mile connectivity, smart mobility solutions with an optimal work.

It includes activities & Process that characterize & monitoring the quality of environment & used to prepare environmental impact assessment.

Water Monitoring

Smart Water Solutions for smart cities help you monitor and manage water and waste water. This ensures that these precious water bodies are not polluted and water is not wasted.

Gas Monitoring and Asset Tracking

Gas monitoring system aims at detection of gas leakage and automatic controlling of gas valve. The smart gas system which provides, home safety, detects the leakage of the LPG and alerts the consumer about the leak by a notification through by internet and consumer can turn off the gas valve, from anywhere in the world.
